TWEENS,

KIDS, &

TOTS

Where all friends are seen, loved, & cared for.

  • Our Tweens (ages 9-15) are moving to a new stage in their path in following Jesus. They are trying to understand what it means to honor God in a complicated world. Our tweens are also ready to serve others. Tweens are mentored and trained to be part of the congregation as junior members of our ministry teams.

  • Our kids (ages 4-8) are asking important questions about life, faith, and how exactly the world works. Their questions are valid and deserve space to be heard. As we teach and listen, we want to provide them with the tools to help them grow into maturing followers of Christ. Sowebo Kids are currently engaging in the GROW KIDS curriculum to aid their learning and exploration.

  • Play is a crucial part of learning for this age group (1-3). Through stories, songs, and make believe play, our Tots engage with Bible stories in a fun and memorable way. They will practice a memory verse each week (with take home materials to continue the learning!), participate in a craft, and enjoy a small snack together.

  • For our infants, crawlers, and friends who might not be ready for the classroom yet (ages 0-2), we have a playpen in the back of the auditorium with toys and books available during service.

Safety
At SOWEBO Community Church, we are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for your children during Sunday services. Our comprehensive procedures ensure that each child is well-cared for, from the moment they arrive until they are safely picked up by their caregiver.

All volunteers in our children's ministry undergo a screening process, including background checks and training in child safety, and handling various needs such as neuro-divergent children. Our volunteers are regular attendees who have been with us for a minimum of four months, and youth helpers are carefully supervised and mentored. Each classroom is managed by at least two adult volunteers, ensuring that children are always under vigilant supervision. Our strict check-in and check-out procedures, including the use of number tags and secure rosters, further enhance the safety of your child.

We prioritize health and hygiene by enforcing a sick policy and maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Children displaying symptoms of illness are kept isolated until their caregiver arrives, and our classrooms are regularly sanitized. Additionally, we have clear protocols in place for managing any emergencies, with on-call staff ready to assist and ensure your child’s safety. Our no-photography policy ensures the privacy of all children and volunteers. You can trust that your child will be in a safe, supportive environment while you enjoy the service.

Accessibility
We recognize caring for our children can never be a one-size-fits-all deal — each individual holds different learning styles, health conditions, and lived experiences. As a children’s ministry team, we’re continually intentional in selecting words, actions, and curriculums that best fit the unique needs present in our classroom.

Jesus
Children are a central part of our church — as we pursue God in worship, prayer and service, our kids remind us of what it’s like to live it all out with a child-like faith. We invite all kids to participate fully in worship, prayer, and a brief Kids moment before they are dismissed to their age-appropriate classroom.

At Sowebo, we want our Kids to learn and live out 3 big things:

  • Jesus is our friend and Lord.

  • God is always there for us.

  • Each child has a unique & important role to play in the Church.
